Getting back into photography and my move from Fuji X-T2 to Sony A7IV

Let’s put it this way, my old Fujifilm X-T2 was the camera that got me back into taking photos after an insanely long break that lasted for over 20 years. I’m happy and sad about it, happy because I finally got back into taking photos, sad because it didn’t happen earlier.

The X-T2

The Fujifilm X-T2 is and was, an amazing camera for any starter I’d say, brilliant design, feelgood dials, and it makes it fun to go out and shoot (photos). I will always wholeheartedly recommend a Fujifilm for any beginner out there, or for anyone who is just starting fresh over again. I will probably buy one again at some later time, maybe though and X-T4 or X-T5.

Going on an full-frame adventure

As much as I loved the Fujifilm X-T2, I also noticed a few annoying issues, not in the sense of when I was shooting out on the street in most cases, but when I needed the autofocus to work better and when shooting in low light, the dynamic range also became a massive plus for me, and moving to the Sony A7IV felt like stepping into the future. I can get what I need faster, quicker and easier yet I still like to dial it to that M setting.

Some final thoughts

I still miss the Fuji charm, the Fuji simulations and colour, and the physical dials of the Fuji, that made the camera so much fun to use, but the Sony A7IV has really made it easier to get the shots that I want. Will I ever get a Fuji again? Yes, probably at some point.
